Who is the Captain of your favorite IPL team for this Season?

Only a few days have to the TATA Indian Premier League 2022, all ten franchises revealed the captains of the respective teams. In a short-format game, the captain plays a key role, regardless of whether he performs satisfactorily on an individual level. In some seasons of the IPL, we could see that despite not having a form in person, the captains managed to make the right decisions and helped their team cross the border.

  1. Punjab Kings – Mayank Agarwal

Everyone was expecting that Shikhar Dhawan would the next PBKS captain after buying him in the mega auction. But the Mohali-based IPL franchise has another plan for their team. Mayank Agarwal is going to be the captain of PBKS. KL Rahul was heading PBKS for the last few seasons.

Punjab Kings is having a hard time starting in the Indian Premier League. From player selection to their strategies, the franchise has struggled a lot and wants to make up for it from next season. Agarwal was retained by the PBKS franchise for 12 Crore. He has been serving the franchise for a few more years and is a good candidate for the position of captain.

  1. Kolkata Knight Riders – Shreyas Iyer

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the two-time IPL winner, didn’t seem that they have captaincy-like material after retaining their star player Andre Russell, Varun Chakravarthy, Venkatesh Iyer, and Sunil Narine before the mega auction. After a long fight with RCB and GT in the mega auction, KKR has managed to buy Shreyas on 12.25 crore.

Shreyas Santosh Iyer is going to be the next skipper for KKR. He is an Indian cricketer who plays for the national team in international cricket, represents Mumbai for domestic cricket and now he is going to lead the most favorite among the  IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders.

  1. Royal Challengers Bangalore– Faf Du Plessis

Recently, Kohli has decided to resign as captain of the T20 to deal with his excessive workload, and the debate over the next captain of the RCB has since begun. The biggest question for RCB was going forward in this season of the IPL will be, who will be their next skipper of RCB after Virat Kohli?

The RCB finally confirmed that Faf Du Plessis will lead the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2022. He was representing CSK for the last few seasons and played very well the season. Now Faf is ready to take responsibility of leading the most underrated IPL team.

  1. Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma

The most successful IPL captain till now, Rohit Sharma, has been retained by his parent franchise and will continue to take the lead this season. Under Rohit’s captaincy, the Mumbai Indians won five IPL titles in eight years and performed extremely well.

After taking the lead from Ricky Ponting in 2013, the Mumbai Indians were a little worried about the role and had to hand it over to Rohit Sharma as he was the only performer on the team. The move to appoint Rohit, the site’s leader, paid off for the franchise.

  1. Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni

The four-time IPL-winning IPL franchise, the Chennai Super Kings, has retained Mahendra Singh Dhoni for a huge price of 12 Crores this season. As expected MSD is going to lead CSK once again.

Dhoni has already signaled his plans for next season and said he wants to play his last game at Chennai Chepauk. Some experts believe MS Dhoni will play in the full IPL 2022 season. After winning IPL 2021 in Dubai, he is leading the site again.

  1. Delhi Capitals: Rishabh Pant

The young gun of the Indian Cricket Team, Rishabh Pant, has once again been elected to lead the Delhi Capitals (DC) after his success last season.

Pant was appointed as a skipper to the team when Iyer was injured and performed extremely well in the captaincy. He took his team into the playoffs and was fit to use the resource. The DC franchise showed faith in his cricketing ability and handed over the reins to the IPL 2022 again.

  1. Sunrisers Hyderabad: Kane Williamson

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will be the captain of SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the fifteenth season of the Indian Premier League. The franchise retained him in a huge amount of 14 Crores.

In the last season, SRH took off David Warner from his captaincy and appointed Kane Williamson to head the group. Warner didn’t get enough reason to remove it, so the franchise was amidst public anger at their behavior toward David Warner.

  1. Rajasthan Royals: Sanju Samson

Rajasthan Royals have given young Sanju Samson another chance to lead the team.  Samson was appointed captain of Rajasthan during the 2021 IPL after the failure of Steve Smith. While this was not a memorable campaign for the Sanju-led Rajasthan Royals, it is sure to learn.

  1. Gujrat Titans- Hardik Pandya

Hardik was selected by the Gujarat Titans for 15 million rupees on the pre-auction draft and was appointed captain as the former Mumbai Indians star takes on a new role at the head of the team. Hardik said the captaincy is about human control. “Success is theirs, failure is mine.

Gujarat Titans also include Indian opener Shubman Gill, Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, Australian Matthew Wade, senior Indian pacer Mohammad Shami, and New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson.

  1. Lucknow Super Giants: KL Rahul

Former Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper KL Rahul was expected to join Lucknow-based new IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants as their new captain. After so much discussion and debate LSG team management decided to give KL Rahul the new role as captain.

Rahul did well when he was playing for his stay at PBKS. He reached a maximum run on his side and was quite good with his captaincy. However, he wanted to explore more opportunities, so he decided to get rid of the franchise.
