IPL is the platform from where any young player can raise or come down by showing his talent. The countdown to IPL 2022 has started, only 15 days have left now. It is one of the biggest cricket leagues in the world following BBL. The IPL is the dream of many young players.
Today, through this article, we’re going to talk about the 4 players for whom performing in IPL 2022 will be the do-or-die situation. If these players don’t perform well this season, their careers may be ruined.
If these 4 players do not perform well in the upcoming season of the IPL , the career will have to say goodbye and they would have to hang their boots to leave the game. Along with that it would not be expected that get a chance to get a place in Team India again with the team packed with a perfect mix of rising stars and experienced player.
These are the 4 players will have to perform well in IPL 2022:
-
Dinesh Karthik
For Dinesh Karthik, this season would be the one one where he either floats or drowns his career. Karthik is on the top this list for player who need to make the most of this opportunity considering his age
He was often spoken about during the last few seasons where he had to give up the captaincy of the Kolkata Knight Riders due to poor team performaces and his batting woes, with his aims to find a place back in the national squad, this IPL he has to grab this oppertunity by it’s horns and not let go. We are hoping that he finds his form again in the shorted format of the game and can don the iconic blue Indian cricket team jersey.
Speaking of last year’s IPL performance, he scored just 149 runs in 10 games. Also in 2020, 169 runs were born from Karthik’s bat in 14 matches. In a situation like this, if he can’t perform well this year either, this season could be the last season for Karthik in the IPL. This year, he will play on behalf of the Royal Challengers where he was bough for a whopping 5.50 crores as the wicketkeeper batsman who can also take up a leadership role.
- Wriddhiman Saha
Wriddhiman Saha consider second in this list and is also the second wicketkeep- batsman here. He is not currently in the test series against Sri Lanka after being told that he should retire from the game by the team coach Rahul Dravid. The selectors showed him the way out of the India team and in a situation like this, it has become even more important for him to perform well in the 2022 Indian Premier League where he has a chance to prove everyoen wrong and show that age is just a number and experience matters a lot. Wriddhiman Saha, who recently made headlines due to the texting scandal and his comments on the BCCI for dropping him from the test team, performed very poorly in the recent IPL.
Now, in a situation like this, if he shows off his weak form in IPL again this year, dark clouds may be starting to float in his career. Saha made just 131 runs in 9 games in the IPL 2021, averaging 14.55. Even in 2020, he was only able to play 4 games. Saha will be featured on Gujarat Titans this time where he would be covering as the keeper till atleast the 6th of April untill Mattew Wade arrives and takes over the gloves along with that he is also poised to open the innings along with young gun Shumban Gill.
- Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane is third on the list. And his career is also in jeopardy after poor performaces in the test team where he was dropped as vice captain and was also dropped from the national test team. Seeing his continued poor performance on the field as a batsman by getting out cheaply, it is almost impossible for him to remain a member of Team India . In such a situation, his last hope is IPL 2022 where he should make the most out of it although he is not known to play well in the T20 format.
Rahane played just 2 games in IPL 2021, which did not perform well and only 8 runs came out of his bat. Thus, playing 9 games in the 2020 season, he scored a gramd total of 113 runs with an average of 14.12. Ajinkya Rahane will be featured on Kolkata Knight Riders roster this time hoping to get some game time.
- Varun Aaron
The name of the Indian team’s former pacer Varun Aaron is at the bottom of the list. Varun began his career very strongly by playing well in the domestic circuit but could never replicate it for the national team, his comeback would not be for the national team but again to go for big money in tournaments like the IPL. Aaron hunted for big batters with the power of fast bowling, but for a while now, we’ve seen the graph of his career just go downhill. This season could be a turning point for his career depending on the games that he get, that too if he gets any.
In 2020, Aaron got 3 matches to play and in those matches, Aaron proved to be very expensive for the Rajasthan Royals. With Aaron running 94 runs with an average of 11.75, Varun is waiting to get a chance on the team. This season, Aaron will be on the Gujarat Titans after being sold for his base price.
