New IPL teams – Franchise, Auctions, Bidders

Indian Premier League is the pioneer of domestic t20 leagues in the whole world almost every cricket board walked on the same path as BCCI did, these t20 leagues are very famous in terms of both viewership and commercialization, and these leagues are a good source of business for BCCI, corporates, online cricket betting market, etc. Indian Premier League is the biggest and richest league in the world cricket, it is always known for its huge amount prizes, expensive auctions, and huge bids for players.

Indian Premiere League had 14 season in total it is so damn important for both the BCCI and ICC that world cup was postponed for one year but it wasn’t. The 15th season is set to be organized in India next year, the next season will bring a transformation in the IPL format as there will be 10 teams from the next season, two new teams are going to be add in the tournament, and also there will be mega auctions it would be really interesting to watch our favorite players shuffle from our favorite teams.

Yesterday on 25th October BCCI organized an auction for bidding of the two new teams for the tournament later it announced the successful bidders for two new Indian Premier League Franchises. Various interested parties and authorized representatives submitted their tender to the Governing Council of IPL in Dubai yesterday.

The two successful bidders after the completion of all the legal process are-

  1. RPSG Ventures Ltd. – They bought the Lucknow franchise for INR 7090 Crores.
  2. Irelia Company Pte Ltd. (CVC Capital Partners) – The Company successfully won the bid for Ahmedabad for INR 5625 Crores.

The above mentioned franchise will take participation in the Indian Premiere League from 2022 they’ll surely make the tournament more exciting and vigorous form next year.

BCCI President, Mr Sourav Ganguly said:” The BCCI is happy to welcome two new teams from the next season of the Indian Premier League. I would like to congratulate RPSG Ventures Ltd. & Irelia Company Pte Ltd for being the successful bidders. The IPL will now go to two new cities in India viz in Lucknow and Ahmedabad. It is heartening to see the inclusion of two new teams at such a high valuation, and it reiterates the cricketing and financial strength of our cricket ecosystem. True to IPL’s motto of ‘Where Talent Meets Opportunity’, the inclusion of two new teams will bring more domestic cricketers from our country to the global stage. The ITT process included two interested bidders from outside of India, which strongly emphasizes the global appeal of the IPL as a sports property. The IPL is proving to be a wonderful instrument in globalizing the game of cricket. I am keenly looking forward to IPL 2022”.

However the names and squads of the teams are yet to be decided but this announcement is like a Diwali gift for cricket fans special for the UP and Gujarat ones their state is finally going to have its own franchise. BCCI is soon going to announce the main mega auctions there might be chances the auction will held in December- January.
