Hearts broke across the country as Deepak Chahar fell to the ground holding his legs, as the 14 Crore Chennai Super Kings fast bowler and occasional batsman tore his right quadriceps as he bowled in the 3rd T20I against West Indies in the Motera Stadium of Gujrat. When the Chennai based team bought the player for his whopping price tag, expectations were high from not only the management but also the fans, but it all went crashing down as the MS Dhoni lead team were told that he would miss the majority of the IPL 2022 season recovering in the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
With just over 20 days left for the tournament to begin on the 26th of March, the management has begun to brainstorm who would be replacing the player and find an adequate replacement if the player from Rajasthan does not recover in time to wrap up the season.
This is the list of players that we believe can replace the fast bowler
1. Ishant Sharma
He would be the first player on everyone’s mind when it would come to finding a replacement for Chahar. He is a veteran in Indian cricket team and nomad in the IPL with 6 teams however winning none, and with a team that is banking on experience he would be a perfect replacement for Deepak Chahar.
Sharma last played for Delhi Capitals where he did not get to play much but yet was crucial to the team that topped the group stages but eventually came third. And with MS Dhoni as his captain again, you can be sure that Sharma will be used to his strengths with his seam bowling and bouncers.
2. Dhawal Kulkarni
The 33 year old Mumbai native is another player whose name would play on the minds of fans and the CSK think tank alike. Another older player that would suit the culture of experience at the team, Kulkarni has had his fair share of game time with Rajasthan Royals, Gujrat Lions and Mumbai Indians in the IPL, along with great numbers for domestic cricket. Just like Deepeak Chahar, he can to swing the ball be useful to get early scalps and do well in the death.
The right arm pacer too had gone unsold during the mega auction, and a player like him would surely make CSK one of the favorites to win the IPL back to back with average odds of them winning 9.00 on online IPL betting websites. 3. Sandeep Warrier

If the team does not want to go for a like for like replacement for the pacer, they can go for the experienced spinner with the most wickets in the IPL. With impressive numbers to back him up, another veteran, Amit Mishra was a surprising omission from any of the squads.
Even in his previous season of the IPL in the pitches of UAE, he had a great run where he picked up a 4-fer against Mumbai Indians. He would provide depth in the spin department and would again get to play under MS Dhoni like he did in the Indian cricket team.
5. Suresh Raina
A move that would shock players, fans and the entire cricketing community would be bringing back “Chinna Thala” or Mr. IPL back into to the squad after not even bidding for him in the Mega Auction. This move, although highly unlikely, would win back hearts on not only the CSK faithful but also all cricket fans.
His experience only speaks for himself and his name goes hand in hand with the Chennai based team, even though this would be a moonshot, one can always hope for him to come back home and don the yellows again.
