What did Rahul Dravid say on Kohli’s 100 Test?

India’s head coach Rahul Dravid rewarded Virat Kohl with his 100th test cap, ahead of India-Sri Lanka’s 1st test in Mohali on Friday. A short ceremony before the match thanked Virat Kohli for this milestone. Kohli is playing his 100th test match in the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

In his short speech, head coach Rahul Dravid congratulated the former Indian captain on his amazing cricketing journey, as he said “Congratulations to you and your family on this wonderful achievement. It’s well deserved, well earned”.

Further, he added in his statement what he said in the dressing room.

“Hopefully, it is just the start of many things to come, as we say in the dressing room, double it up”, Dravid said.

In response, Virat Kohli thanked Dravid for his support. He showed his gratitude towards Dravid by saying, “It is indeed a team game and it couldn’t have been possible without you”.

Kohli also mentioned his family in his statement, “It is a special moment for me. My wife is here and so is my brother.  Everyone is very proud.”

He further thanked BCCI too and also made an appeal to youngsters, “In present-day cricket, with the amount we play with three formats and an IPL, the one takeaway the next generation can take from me is that I played 100 games in the purest format”.

Virat Kohli is the 12th Indian bat to reach the milestone of 100 test matches. In the 99 tests so far, the right-handed batter has scored 7,962 runs in 168 innings, averaging 50.39. The 33-year-old has struck down 27 centuries and 28 half-centuries. Of the 27 hundred, 7 are double tons.

Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss in India against Sri Lanka in the 1st test and decided to bat first. India has chosen two pacers, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami while Mohammad will be sitting on the bench for this game. Among the spinners, Jayant Yadav entered, while Kuldeep Yadav rested.
